Inês is from the town of Impire in the North of Mozambique, where she lived with her mother and 4 brothers and sisters. Her parents are separated, working as smallholder farmers working on their small plots to provide some subsistence crops to sustain their family.
Until 7th grade, Inês studied in the Complete Primary School of Impire, with very good behavior, as she was applied and motivated for all new learning, according to her teachers. She completed that year with 11 values. Despite coming from very humble origins, her family always understood the importance of education and incentivized Inês to continue her studies.
To make it possible to move on to 8th grade, Inês moved to Chiure, a town 75km from Impire. She lives there with her older sister in a house 5 km from the school, and she must walk each day to and from her classes since there is no option for public transportation. For this schoolyear, she received assistance from Helpo, a non-profit operating in Northern Mozambique, to fund her school enrollment fees, uniform, shoes, and school materials.
However, despite this aid, the distance continued to cause difficulties, since she had to walk 2 hours both to and from school each day. With the donation of a bicycle, Inês arrives to school in only 30 minutes, meaning she has more time for her studies, housework, farming and family. On the weekends, she can use the bicycle to help out with the family farming, so they can earn more income. And, on top of all this, the bicycle serves as an incentive for her to continue her education, towards her overall objective to help her family overcome the difficulties that they must live with each day.
A Inês é natural de Impire, onde viveu com a mãe e os seus 4 meios‐irmãos. Os pais estão separados, camponeses retirando da machamba alguns alimentos para o sustento da família. Até à 7ª classe estudou na Escola Primária Completa de Impire, com bom comportamento, foi aplicada e motivada para as novas aprendizagens, de acordo com os professores. Terminou com media de 11 valores. Apesar de ser de origens muito humildes, a família sempre soube a importância da escola e sempre incentivou a Inês para dar continuidade aos estudos.
Para posibilitar que ela pudesse frequentar 8ª classe, atualmente vive em Chiure a 75km de Impire. Vive Com a irmã mais velha numa casa que fica a 5km de distância da Escola, tendo que percorrer todos os dias a pé esta distância para ir à escola. Para o arranque do ano lectivo de 2015, ela recebeu uma ajuda do valor da matrícula para que a aluna pudesse garantir a vaga na escola, o uniforme, sapatos e material escolar, para que a Inês pudesse frequenter a escola, do HELPO, uma organizacao sem fins lucrativos que opera no Norte da Moçambique.
No entanto , apesar desta ajuda, ela encontrou dificuldades desde a sua caminhada para a escola levou mais de 2 horas do tempo. Com a doação da bicicleta, a Inês chega à escola em pouco mais de 30 minutos, assim que tem mais tempo para o estudos, tarifas de casa, machamba e familia. E, encima de tudo, tem mais um incentivo para a aluna possa dar continuidade aos estudos, com o objective de poder ajudar a família a ultrapassar as dificuldades em que vivem.
